Ajay Devgan did many films with same stories, he mostly played the innocent guy who becomes a killer due to circumstances He wasn’t a great actor either and was a wooden actor but DILWALE changed it
The story sounds similar but the handling is nice Ajay’s mentally retarded character is well handled and the circumstances, twists and turns keep you thinking The love story is handled in a very clichéd manner agreed but the main story is well handled
The scenes in the asylum are well handled and also the character of Ajay and the scenes between Ajay and Raveena, Suneil post his coming from from the hospital
The film does follow the beaten to death route towards the finale but the film came in 1994 and that time such climaxes were the need of the hour
Harry Baweja does a great job, this is one of his best works Music by Nadeem Shravan is awesome Cinematography is good, though too dark at times Dialogues are nice
Ajay Devgan surprises you, the actor changes expressions like a chameleon and handles the difficult part to perfection Suneil Shetty annoys at times but is sincere at times His dialog delivery is bad at many times Raveena is ordinary too, she shrills many places Paresh Rawal has done such roles too many times Pramod Moutho isn’t impressive Gulshan Grover irritates Saaed Jaffrey, Rami Reddy are forgettable Reema Lagoo is good
