Shankar (Raaj Kumar) lives in a small village with his son, Mohan, and his devout wife, Durga (Mala Sinha), who is expecting another child soon. Shankar believes in living for the moment without worrying about consequences, while Durga believes that present actions will come back to haunt later in life, and this causes a rift between them.
